Botox®
This can be highly variable based on the multiple factors. Everyone responds to Botox® differently and also based on the depth of the line, some people will need more or less units. We are estimating an average so you can have a general idea of cost before you come in for a consultation and want to take the mystery out of these consultations and pricing that a lot of other places rely on. However, please know these are just general ranges and it does not mean you will only need the number of units that we put in to the range below. It could be below or over the number of units.
Preventative
- Forehead- 5-10 units
- Glabellar (the lines in between your eyes or also known as 11’s) – 8-20 units
- Crow’s Feet- 8-12 units
Restorative
- Forehead – 10-25 units
- Glabella (the lines in between your eyes or also known as 11’s) – 12-20 units
- Crow’s Feet – 8-16 units
After numbing the area with ice, a Shobha Nurse Practitioner will inject small doses of Botox® into the muscle area around the lines. For each area on your face you are treating, there will be several injections. The whole procedure typically takes under 15 minutes.
Results will typically start to become noticeable 1-2 days after the procedure. The full effect usually takes place 10-14 days later. So, if you have a special event, try to schedule your Botox® appointment at least 2-4 weeks in advance.
Booking a consultation is the first step so we can discuss the procedure and review your medical history. Please make sure you let us know if you have had Botox® within the past year or about any medications you take on a routine basis. If you have an allergy to cow’s milk, Botox® is not recommended. If you take blood thinners, we recommend you stop ideally 2 weeks before the treatment. Do not stop taking these medications if your provider has prescribed them. Please discuss with the Nurse Practitioner during your consultation to get more details.
The good thing is that there is minimal downtime with Botox®. You can resume your daily life and activities almost immediately. We do recommend that you take a few precautions for optimal results which are described in our Post- Botox® treatment instructions.
Botox® is not permanent. Results typically last 3 to 6 months depending on skin elasticity, muscle mass and other genetic factors. It won’t erase wrinkles for good, but it will prevent them from getting worse or deepening. That’s why many people in their 20’s and 30’s are starting to do preventative treatments.
After an injection, the results are not immediately reversible. That’s why it’s important to schedule a consultation so one of Shobha’s certified Nurse Practitioner can discuss the procedure with you.
Shobha has a team of medically trained, certified Nurse Practitioners to administer Botox® injections at the following locations currently: Shobha Rockville Pike
We all want to look and feel confident, so scheduling your first appointment for Botox® injections can be exciting! For some, the idea of needles can make them a little bit nervous.
We get it. Although these appointments are simple, short and relatively painless, we do recommend you schedule them on a day where you can take your time and not feel under pressure to rush off somewhere. This will help you feel more relaxed.
During your consultation, it is very important to share your list of medications you routinely take to make sure nothing interferes with your body’s blood clotting ability.
Here is a brief list of things to avoid for a week before your appointment. Please feel free to call one of our Shobha team members if you have any questions at all.
- Stop taking blood-thinning medications before you get Botox® injections to prevent bleeding and ensure your blood will clot effectively. That means over-the-counter medications like aspirin and ibuprofen are a “no go.” You can take acetaminophen (Tylenol)
- Avoid supplements like fish oil, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, multivitamins, green tea, cinnamon, and ginger
- Some antibiotics can affect the potency of the neurotoxin in Botox®, so avoid scheduling an appointment if you are on a course of antibiotics
- Don’t drink alcohol for a 1-2 days prior to your appointment
Come to your appointment with a clean, makeup-less face if possible. If you don’t have time or are coming straight from the office, no worries – we have makeup remover wipes on hand. You can also bring your makeup with you if you have somewhere to be after your injection.
1st……Once you arrive for your appointment, our certified Nurse Practitioner at Shobha® will go over all the details of the procedure with you and everything you need to know in terms of possible minor side effects and treatment follow up.
2nd……Next, we’ll numb the injection site area with ice. Remember, Botox® injections use micro-needles so most patients experience minimal, if any, discomfort. However, we know that everyone has different pain thresholds, so we’ve got you covered.
3rd……Then, we will administer the injections. You might feel a slight sting, feeling of pressure or a burning sensation. Or, you might feel nothing at all. You may hear a slight crunching sound as the Botox® is injected. Some patients report a slight dizziness or headache that usually goes away within 15 minutes.
That’s it. We told you…it is simple, quick and relatively painless. You’ll be on your way in no time.
